Girls Only Lacrosse
For 2019 we are going to offer a Girls Only practice once a week
for an hour. Girls will be grouped by ages depending on the number of
registrations.
A few girls sticks will be available to use but please
consider purchasing your own as quantities may be limited.
We are in communication with other girls programs in ND and SD
about the possibility of co-opting during any girls games/events that may occur
this spring. There are several
cities in ND and SD that already have girls programs. The specifics of any games are unknown
now. When we begin the Girls Only
practices we will keep families up to date on any opportunities that arise and
ask if they would like to participate. We
will work out the details of practices and game opportunities based on the ages
and number of players that register.
Girls lacrosse is very different from boys lacrosse. Therefore we wanted to begin offering a girls
program for girls in the area to learn about the girls game of lacrosse. The lacrosse stick is different then the boys
stick. Girls lacrosse only requires
goggles and a mouth guard. This is a
great start to developing a girls program as we have two women coaches who have
played college lacrosse who are excited to lead the girls program with the help
and support of the other coaches and BMLA.
If you have registered a girl for either Little Laxers (10-6U) or
any of the boys teams you can attend the Girls Only practice at no additional
charge.
If your daughter will only be attending the Girls Only practices $50
is the registration fee (the Little Laxers registration fee is $50). Participation in
lacrosse requires a US Lacrosse membership as well ($30-35).
Please join us to help grow this new program for girls and provide
a new opportunity in Bismarck Mandan for girls athletics!
